CVMC Shines in Luminosity Concerts –May 2011 |
The Central Virginia Masterworks Chorale begins its 2011 fall/winter season with a special Director’s Preview on Saturday, August 27, from 9:00 am to 12:00 noon, at Duncan Memorial United Methodist Church in Ashland. Artistic Director Larry Heath (hyperlink to his page) will explore the music planned for the holiday concerts, and he invites returning members as well as newcomers to join him. If you have been curious about membership in the Masterworks Chorale or perhaps just want more information about singing with us, this is your opportunity to give the Chorale a try. |
The Central Virginia Masterworks Chorale celebrated spring and the theme of “Luminosity: Music of Light” with two afternoon concerts, 5/1/2011 and 5/8/2011. Highlights of the concert included the five pieces from Morten Lauridsen’s Lux Aeterna, Faurè’s Cantique, and five additional songs (see Past Performances). Larry Heath conducted; Laura Chandler White provided accompaniment and Michael Snow was featured as a guest soloist. |

On June 4, 2011, CVMC performed at the Ashland Strawberry Faire, with Director Larry Heath conducting and Melissa Hawks providing accompaniment. The chorale entertained an enthusiastic crowd on the Center Street Stage with four musical selections from their Spring Concert: Earth Song, Choose Something Like a Star, Keep Your Lamps and Alleluia. |
