Artistic Director / Conductor
Artistic Director Lawrence W. Heath has extensive experience in the choral arts both as an educator and a choral director. He holds an undergraduate degree in Music Education from Eastern Nazarene College in Quincy, Massachusetts and a Master’s degree in Church Music from Westminster Choir College in Princeton, New Jersey. Throughout his studies Mr. Heath has concentrated on choral conducting and organ. |
Mr. Heath honed his skills as an educator during his ten years of teaching at Geneva College in Beaver Falls, Pennsylvania. He enriched his knowledge of choral conducting while studying with notables such as Joseph Fummerfelt, Frauke Hasseman. Brocke McElheran and Greg Larkin. And he broadened his understanding of the choral arts by performing as a member of the Saratoga Potsdam Choral Institute Choir and the Westminster Symphonic Choir. Performances have been with the Philadelphia Orchestra and the Leipzig Gewandhaus Orchestra under the batons of Ricardo Muti, Kurt Mazur, Robert Shaw and Eric Leinsdorf.
In addition to his post as the new Artistic Director/ Conductor of the Central Virginia Masterworks Chorale, Mr. Heath is also the Director of Music and Organist for the River Road Presbyterian Church in Richmond.
